Coronavirus: Isle Of Wight Rolling Case Rate Falls Below National Average

The Isle of Wight's rolling coronavirus case rate has fallen below the national average for the first time in weeks.

A further 28 cases have been registered today (Tuesday). That is marginally up on yesterday's (Monday's) total of nine.

But the average rate of new cases on the Island, per 100,00, is slowing.

It has fallen to 259.6 today - down from yesterday's 292.7.

The UK average is 261.9 per 100,000.

The seven-day rolling rate is used to measure patterns or trends in the Government's coronavirus figures.

Of the 6,255 positive results recorded on the Island since the start of the pandemic, 4,539 came last month (January).

In total, 95 Islanders passed away with the illness in January.

ONS figures, published today, show another 24 deaths in care homes here, as Isle of Wight Radio reported.
