Coronavirus: Isle Of Wight Records Joint Lowest Daily Rise In Cases This Year

The Isle of Wight has recorded its joint lowest daily rise in coronavirus cases so far this year.

Three cases have been registered in today's (Tuesday's) figures. That matches the lowest daily rise recorded this year so far, which came last Tuesday (9).

Yesterday (Monday) saw the Island register an additional eight positive results.

It marks a dramatic fall in the Island’s rolling rate of cases, per 100,000 people. The seven-day rate now stands at 107.9 - down on yesterday's 116.4.

It remains below the UK's rolling seven-day average, which now stands at 149.7.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 6,557 positive cases on the Isle of Wight.

In total, 252 people have now died on the Isle of Wight after testing positive for the illness. 

Earlier today, Isle of Wight Radio revealed there had been a rise in care home deaths.
