Coronavirus: Isle Of Wight Postcodes See Alert Level Raised To 'Medium'

A number of postcode areas on the Isle of Wight have seen their coronavirus alert level upgraded.

The Government's contact tracing app says several postcodes, including PO41, PO38, PO32, PO37, PO36 and PO33, are now at 'medium risk' level.

Isle of Wight Radio has asked the Isle of Wight Council for a comment.

According to the app, a medium risk level means:

"If your area is at medium risk then your local authority, or a neighbouring local authority, has higher levels of infection than other parts of the country.

"A local area plan has been created with targeted actions in place to reduce transmission of infection. For example, this may be additional testing in care homes and increased community engagement with high-risk groups. Some medium risk areas may be receiving additional national support, such as mobile testing capacity."

The app - the second to be launched and trialled on the Isle of Wight - is set to rolled out across the country tomorrow.

The news comes as the number of confirmed cases on the Island rises from 450 to 455, as Isle of Wight Radio previously reported.
