Coronavirus: Isle Of Wight January Death Toll Rises To 97

A further three people have died at St Mary's Hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.

Latest NHS England have been published today (Wednesday).

They show two deaths were recorded on January 31 and another on Monday (1).

It means 97 people died on the Island with the illness last month (January).

Since the start of the pandemic, coronavirus has been mentioned on the death certificates of 206 Islanders.

St Mary's Hospital has recorded 123 of those deaths.

Isle of Wight Radio revealed yesterday (Tuesday) that 24 people had passed away in the community.

 

The Isle of Wight's rolling coronavirus case rate has now fallen below the national average, however.

It is the first time this has happened in weeks.

New data is set to be published later today.
