Coronavirus: Four More People Die At Isle Of Wight's Hospital

There has been a rise in coronavirus-related deaths at the Isle of Wight's hospital.

NHS England figures, published today (Tuesday), show a further four people have passed away at St Mary's after testing positive.

The latest deaths were officially registered yesterday (Monday), Saturday (23) and Sunday (24).

Nine deaths have now been confirmed on the Island today, although they actually occurred earlier this month.

Earlier Isle of Wight Radio revealed that five people had passed away in the community.

This month (January) 61 people have died on the Island with the illness.

Since the start of the pandemic, coronavirus has been mentioned on the death certificates of 169 Islanders.

St Mary's Hospital has recorded 110 of those deaths.

The Island's seven-day rolling case average, per 100,00, is now at 470.5 - on Friday (23) it stood at 611.5.

Figures released yesterday (Monday) show the rate of new cases on the Island is continuing to fall.
