Coronavirus: Christ The King College Pupil Tests Positive - Year 9 Students Sent Home

Year 9 students at Christ the King College have been sent home from school after a pupil tested postive for coronavirus.

Isle of Wight Radio has been told that six staff are also self-isolating following the confirmed case.

The pupil who has tested positive is in Year 9, according to the school.

Matthew Quinn, Executive Head at Christ the King, said the school has followed the Department of Education advice.

He said the school is continuing its track and trace protocols to see if any additional staff members need to be self-isolating at home.

An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said:

"We can confirm that the school will remain open.

"...a child has tested positive for Covid-19. The school is following the advice of Public Health England and has asked the other children in that year group, and six members of staff, to self-isolate for 14 days from Saturday 19 September.

"The school will be switching to remote learning so that those children continue to receive their education."

Children who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will have received an individual letter and will be staying at home for 14 days.

What to do if your child develops symptoms of COVID 19?

If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, they must not come to school and should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared.

Anyone with symptoms will be eligible for testing and this can be arranged via https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

All other household members who remain well, must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days.

This includes anyone in your ‘Support Bubble’.
