Coronavirus: Another Person Dies In Hospital On Isle Of Wight

Another person has died at St Mary's Hospital having contracted COVID-19.

NHS England figures show the latest death came on Wednesday (25).

As of Tuesday (25), there were 17 patients in the Island's hospital with the illness. Three people were in a mechanical ventilation bed.

Since the start of of the pandemic, 159 people have died at the hospital with the illness.

137 deaths have been recorded in the Isle of Wight community. That number includes homes, care homes and Mountbatten hospice.

In total, 296 people have died on the Island with COVID-19.

The latest fatality comes in the same week the Isle of Wight NHS Trust closed all inpatient wards to visitors, due to a rise in COVID patient numbers.

Yesterday (Thursday) Isle of Wight Radio revealed how the Island's vaccination roll-out is progressing.

Latest data shows almost 100,000 people on the Isle of Wight have now been double-jabbed.
