Coronavirus: 82 Deaths On Isle Of Wight – 39 Recorded In Care Homes

A further four people have died in Isle of Wight care homes with coronavirus.

Latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows the number of people to have died in care homes between May 29 and June 5.

It means a total of 39 people have now passed away in care homes on the Island.

43 people have died in all community settings here, including three at home and one at Mountbatten hospice.

ONS data records the number of deaths which occurred by June 5, but not registered until June 13. These figures differ from those produced daily by NHS England, which records hospital deaths.

The number of COVID-19-related deaths at St Mary’s Hospital has risen from 38 to 39 - the first increase in more than two weeks.

It brings the total number of deaths on the Island, related to coronavirus, to 82.

202 people have tested positive here since the start of the pandemic.

47 people have recovered and been discharged from hospital, according to the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
