Sponsors Sought For Yarmouth Ice Rink After Local Charities Benefit From Inaugural Event

The organisers of a festive event which raised more than £26,000 for 19 Isle of Wight charities last year are hoping to keep it real for 2022.

Yarmouth On Ice brought an under cover, all weather synthetic rink to the town for 12 days last December.

Organisers are looking to take things to the next level this year by bringing a real ice rink to the town.

The original idea was the brainchild of Mandy Miles, the director of local business Harwoods Yacht Chandlers, and manager Danny Arthur.

Mandy said:

"This is a much bigger project to tackle and will cost almost four times as much as the synthetic one.

"We have seen how popular and well received last year was but a real ice rink will be bigger and better — to achieve this we are looking for additional sponsors to help with some of the capital costs.

"The more help we can get, the more we can raise for charity, which is at the heart of organising the event. If any businesses are willing to help out, we would love to hear from them!"

Last year's frivolity saw Mother and Father Christmas visit Yarmouth Town Hall, with children receiving a Christmas stocking and book as a gift — part of the grotto set up by Josie da Bank and her team.

More than 5,000 tickets were sold for last year's inaugural event.
