Confirmed COVID-19 Case At Cowes Primary School - Here's The Official Line

The Isle of Wight Council has released a statement following the news that a case of coronavirus has been confirmed at Cowes Primary School.

A letter was sent to parents on behalf of Public Health England by headteacher Stephanie Praetig this morning, confirming the news that a child attending the school has tested positive.

Parents of children that are in the same 'class bubble' as the infected child have been notified via a seperate letter, and those children - along with the class teacher and teaching assistant - have been asked to self isolate for fourteen days.

An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson has confirmed that the school will remain open.

They added:

"The school is following the advice of Public Health England and has asked the other children in that class bubble, the teacher and the teaching assistant to self-isolate for 14 days.

"We will be switching to remote learning so that those children continue to receive their education."
