Charity Football Match Raises More Than £1400 For Island Family

A charity football match has raised more than £1,400 for an Isle of Wight family.

An all-star team - including staff from Morrisons superstore in Lake - took on the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service at Sandown and Lake FC.

The match was organised to support Islander, Sam Alabaster and his family, after he was recently diagnosed with cancer.

In total, £1,460 was raised, which will be used for Sam to create special memories with his wife and children.

Sam's mum, Jayne, thanked everyone for their support.

She said:

"The support we've received has been incredible. Thank you so much to everyone who played in the match, came along to support and helped us raise the money. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has supported our family."
