Calling Isle Of Wight Volunteers! Help Save Mountbatten's Walk The Wight

Walk The Wight

Around 100 volunteers are needed to make sure Walk the Wight can go ahead this weekend (Sunday).

Because of COVID, marshalls and volunteers needed on the day have not been filled.

Various roles, including those to help with on-the-day registrations, manning water and toilet points are needed.

Nigel Hartley, Mountbatten CEO said:

“I cannot emphasise enough how important Walk the Wight is to us and we desperately do not want to cancel it.

“If you can help us on Sunday, we would be incredibly grateful.”

To help keep logistics simpler, Mountbatten is ideally looking for people to commit to six-hour shifts, placed in various locations across the Island.

All volunteers will be asked to take a lateral flow test on Saturday night but they only need to inform Mountbatten if it returns positive.

Anyone interested in helping on Sunday can email jax.jones@mountbatten.org.uk with their name, email address and phone number.

Alternatively, they can call the fundraising office on 01983 217300.

Mountbatten has worked hard to ensure the walk is Covid safe, with walkers given general advice around keeping a distance where appropriate, while hand sanitising stations will be place across all routes.
