Buildings Could Be Demolished At Sandown's The Bay CE School

Unused school buildings at The Bay CE Academy could be knocked down, as part of a multimillion-pound redevelopment.

Three old blocks at the secondary school site, on The Fairway, Lake, have reached the end of their usable life and may now be demolished.

They include the south block, derelict changing rooms and an unused staff block.

A £9 million refurbishment, remodelling and updating the secondary site, has been underway in the last year and is expected to be finished in October.

The demolition work, if approved, is scheduled to start at the end of May, with the buildings stripped and any asbestos removed,  before the structures come down.

The south block would go first and work would be carried out by local firm, John Peck Construction.

The changing rooms and the staff block would come down in early August.

Once demolished, grass or tarmac would be laid on the buildings’ footprint.
