Brothers In Arms: Isle Of Wight Goalkeepers Line Up Against Each Other In Championship Match

Stuart Moore and Simon Moore

Two Isle of Wight brothers lined up against each other on the teamsheet for the first time ever in a Championship football match.

Simon Moore started in goal for Coventry City against Blackpool on Tuesday night (8) - with brother, Stuart - also a goalkeeper - on the bench for the visitors.

The pair were both born on the Island, playing youth football for Brading Town, before Simon went joined Southampton, while Stuart went to Portsmouth.

Simon, 31, has played for Brentford, Cardiff and in the Premier League with Sheffield United, before making the move to Coventry last summer (2021).

Stuart, 27, has played for Peterborough United, Luton Town, Swindon Town, MK Dons, and now, Blackpool.

Tuesday's match was a tense affair, with the Seasiders taking the lead through Gary Madine in the 24th minute. Viktor Gyokeres levelled after getting on the end of Simon Moore's long ball shortly before the break. The game finished 1-1.
