British Ladies Speedway Championship Coming To Isle Of Wight

The British Ladies Speedway Championship is coming to the Isle of Wight.

Eight of the UK's best female riders will compete at Smallbrook Stadium in July and August.

The tournament will be held over three rounds.

Wightlink Warriors' first and long-term sponsor, Jason Waring, has stepped forward to back the championship and provide prize money for the competitors.

Jason said:

"Ever since my initial meeting with Barry Bishop in Warsaw in 2016 I have wanted to be closely involved with this club and I have really enjoyed being part of the speedway action every week sponsoring heat number one on race day.

"Now, having been part of the club from day one, it’s a privilege and honour to be able to expand my sponsorship of the Warriors and help women to be recognised when taking part in speedway.

"I hope my sponsorship will encourage more women to take up the sport and the prize money I am providing help them all to achieve great things. I am sure, like everything on the island, this will be another terrific speedway meeting that will again push the sports boundaries to include all."

Warriors’ co-owner, Barry Bishop, added:

"Jason has been part of the Warriors for as long as Martin and I have so I am absolutely thrilled that he has come forward to support another of our events in a big way. Jason loves our sport and is very passionate about its success, and it’s sponsors like this that understand what we strive to achieve on the island which in turn, as we have seen, actually feeds in to mainstream speedway one way or another.

"Without sponsors like Jason, we are just a club, with sponsors like Jason we know we are believed in and backed and that’s a great feeling. I am so excited for the ladies and their championship and look forward to hosting the NORA British Ladies Championship sponsored by Jason Waring.”
