'Brave Island': Ventnor Exchange Launches New Creative Program

Ventnor Exchange, Maria Bell

If you’re a young Islander looking for creative opportunities and want to connect with other creative types - the Ventnor Exchange has just the thing for you.

Many Islanders have already signed up for free to the Brave Island project, which is a ‘creative network’ for young people on the Isle of Wight.

It provides opportunities, funding, experiences, training and career development for creatives aged between 14 to 25, who are looking for artistic opportunities.

You can apply to work on a BritBox film set, take up yoga, get paid to write an article, or simply sit across from an industry expert to exchange ideas over a coffee.

The team at Ventnor Exchange crowdfunded during the lockdown to get the project off the ground. It has also received arts council funding.

The building on Church Street has also had some refurbishments so it can adjust to life post-coronavirus and accommodate the latest restrictions.

The team at Ventnor Exchange are also running small group clubs such as Ukulele Club, Spoken Word Collective, Watercolour Art Nights and Book Club.

It is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 10pm but you’re encouraged to book a table in advance.
