Bomb Disposal Team Called To Deal With 'Explosive Device' At Ryde Police Station

The Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Team has been called to deal with an explosive device at Ryde Police Station.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from Portsmouth has been called after a 'very small, but potentially explosive device' was secured at the building.

Investigations are currently ongoing.

Police have said there is no wider risk to the public.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson told Isle of Wight Radio:

"We are currently dealing with an incident at Ryde Police Station following the seizure of very small but potentially explosive device that was secured for safety at the police station.

"We have evacuated the building as a precaution and asked for assistance from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to assist.

"The item is being investigated and made safe.

"It is very small and will not cause any wider disruption to the wider community."
