A record-setting actor and beloved member of the Isle of Wight community has died at the age of 81.

Victor Gallucci was a nationally acclaimed actor and the founder of the annual Isle of Wight Classic Car Extravaganza (IWCCE).

Born in Islington, London, in January 1942, 'Vic' is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-serving extra in a television show for his role as DC Tom Baker on The Bill.

He also starred in such films as Jane and the Lost City, Mirrormask and Why Not Stay for Breakfast.

He passed away suddenly yesterday (Sunday May 14.)

A post from the IWCCE said:

"It is with great sadness the team announce(s) the death of creator and organiser Victor Gullucci.

"This has come as a terrible shock to us all, but we are hopeful the show will go on as planned in Vic’s memory."

One of a myriad of tributes said:

"Vic was one of those people that always made you feel happy and would always try to help you, if ever you needed it.

"You name it, Vic would have either been in it or would have had some connection to the making of a film or TV."

Amy Shephard was another to pay homage to Vic's life and legacy, saying:

"So sad to hear this news about the legend that was Victor Gallucci.

"Such a lovely man who will be really missed."

Misty Moon’s The Bill Reunion 9 in November will be dedicated to Vic.
