Arreton Bus Crash: Two Remain In Hospital, Six Discharged

Two people injured in last night's bus crash near Arreton remain at St Mary's Hospital this morning (Thursday).

Six people have been discharged following the incident, which saw a double decker bus career into a field.

13 people suffered injuries, although they were not thought to be life-threatening.

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust has since confirmed 11 of those hurt were taken to hospital last night.

Two people who remain there today have not suffered critical injuries, the Trust says.

A spokesperson for the Trust said:

"We can confirm that following the incident in Arreton on the evening of Wednesday 1 December, Isle of Wight Ambulance Service conveyed 11 people to St. Mary’s Hospital.

"3 people were treated by our Urgent Treatment Centre and 8 people were admitted into our Emergency Department, of which 6 individuals have been discharged home.

"Two people remain in hospital however their injuries are not critical."

Southern Vectis says it is carrying out "immediate investigations" in to what caused the crash.

The incident at around 6pm last night (Wednesday).

Paramedics, police and firefighters were all called to the scene.

Blackwater Road was shut for a time, but has since reopened.
