Appley Fully Reopens For Easter Bank Holiday

After more than a year of disruption, Appley is FULLY reopening this Bank Holiday Easter weekend.

The Long Stay Car Park, North Walk and Garden Walk opened to the public at the beginning of the month, following Southern Water works.

While separate repairs have also been completed on Appley Toilets, meaning they're now open to the public.

And although there are some works on the pathways around the sand park, Ryde Town Council has confirmed that too has reopened.

As Isle of Wight Radio previously reported, works at Appley first started in January 2021 after a sinkhole appeared.

Upon completion, Southern Water said:

“Works to reinstate the areas impacted by the Appley Sewer Collapse are complete and Appley Long Stay Car Park, North Walk and Garden Walk are opening this weekend.

"We will be maintaining a small presence over the next few weeks; whilst we repair the cover slab at the original location of the collapse; but this will not impede pedestrian or vehicular access.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local businesses and public, along with the Isle of Wight Council, Ryde Town Council and Island Roads who have shown great support, understanding and patience whilst we’ve completed this extraordinary repair”.
