Appeal To Trace Owner Of Jet Ski Found Drifting In The Solent

HM Coastguard is continuing to appeal for information about the owner of a white and burgundy jet ski which was found drifting in the Solent.

The jet ski (pictured) is a Yamaha Waverunner and was last seen off the coast of Lymington heading across the Solent towards Langstone Harbour yesterday evening (Tuesday).

The search was launched after the craft was found adrift in the Eastern Solent, off Ryde, with a killcord not attached and a mobile phone on board.

A large scale search involving Bembridge and Ventnor Coastgurd Rescue teams, Bembridge Lifeboat, Yarmouth RNLI and Ryde Rescue is ongoing.

Gosport Independent Lifeboat, HM Coastguard helicopter, the Hillhead and Calshot RNLI Lifeboat are also searching the scene.

A HM Coastguard spokesperson said:

"The coastguard would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw a single jet ski on the water with one person on board between around 6pm and 8pm yesterday (August 4), specifically in the vicinity of Cowes, Ryde Middle, Lee-on-the-Solent or Stokes Bay.

"The jet skier is believed to have been wearing a camouflage jacket."
