Appeal After Sandown Bus Incident Leaves 86-Year-Old 'Seriously Injured'

An 86-year-old woman remains in hospital with serious injuries after an incident involving a bus in Sandown.

As Isle of Wight Radio first reported, two people were taken to St Mary's Hospital yesterday (Thursday).

Police say officers were called to a 'road traffic incident' on Culver Parade at around 12.30pm. The road was shut for a time.

It is said to have happened near The Bandstand restaurant and involved a blue community transport bus.

Two passengers on board were injured and taken to hospital.

An 81-year-old woman had minor injuries and was later discharged, and an 86-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital.

Police want to speak to any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time, saw the bus in the run-up to the incident, or have dash-cam footage.
