Annual Gordon Endler Memorial Ride Being Held In Aid Of Air Ambulance Services

An annual charity ride which raises money for good causes will take place on the Island next weekend.

The Gordon Endler Memorial Ride — which raises funds for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight, and Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance teams — will see motorcyclists meet in Newport at midday next Saturday July 9 to pay tribute to a beloved member of their ranks.

The ride is held in memory of Gordon Endler, a popular local biker who died in a road traffic incident in July 2020.

His partner, Jacqui Stannett, was on the back of the bike, and survived thanks to the Air Ambulance lifting her direct to Southampton General Hospital.

Pit-Stop Motorcycle Training, based on Wellington Road, has for the third consecutive year lent its premises for the assemblage.

A spokesperson for the ride said:

"A team of volunteer marshals will be do their best to keep the bikes together. We ask the public to remain patient, as we will be out of your way as quickly as possible.

"All bikers who wish to support the ride are welcome, and for non-bikers who would like to donate, there will be volunteers from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance at the start point, and collection tins will be carried round the route."

The ride is led by Gordon’s son, Joe Endler, and organised by Jon Flexi and Pippa Ellis of Solent 1990s Sportsbikes.
