Freshwater Parish Council kicked off the spring season by coming together to plant trees last week (Saturday) alongside 24 locals.

The planting was organised by Tom Murphy and Carol Bray after it was initially cancelled because of the pandemic.

Mr Murphy has nurtured the trees for 12 months and upon the easing of restrictions, an army of volunteers came forward to help.

They were organised into groups of six and planted them in Stroud and Jubilee Fields.

Anne Bamford – Freshwater Parish Chair – said:

'I am delighted so many residents enjoyed the opportunity to join together again in a community endeavour. I would like to thank the many volunteers who offered their services.'
