An 8-year-old girl has managed to raise nearly £1,000 for the Cats Protection Adoption Centre in Ryde.

Charlotte White was aiming to complete a marathon distance of 26.2 miles over a week - but she managed it in just five days!

Charlotte attends Greenhaven, a specialist resource provision at Greenmount primary school and battles anxiety, a feeding disorder and other related conditions.

Her mother says this challenge 'was so much more than just raising funds.'

Charlotte has now managed to raise £799 for the charity.

Charlotte's Mum, Michaela told Isle of Wight Radio:

'She is incredibly proud of herself for completing the 26.2 miles and has a real positive sense of achievement.  She is also completely shocked at how much support she has received from complete strangers on her fundraising page.'
