Ventnor Botanic Garden could soon see some new additions — including a glass corridor and extra public toilets — under new plans submitted to the Isle of Wight Council.
The proposals aim to improve the garden’s retail area, boost event spaces, and make day-to-day operations smoother.
According to the planning statement, the project would reconnect two existing shop buildings with a new glass link, recreating a corridor that originally existed when the site was handed over from the Isle of Wight Council in 2012.
The linked space would combine the shop and gallery into one retail area, while a small extension would add new public toilets between the shop and the main building — a move the garden says would enhance visitor facilities and support the café.
The application also notes that the new layout would allow staff to better assist visitors, as everyone heading to the gallery would pass through the main shop.
Public consultation on the plans (reference 25/01484/FUL) is open until November 28, with a decision expected by December 19.
