Randonnee Checkpoints Announced Ahead Of Mountbatten Charity Ride

Schools, community groups and a rugby club will run checkpoints for this year's Isle of Wight Randonnee as the cycling event enters a new chapter under Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

Freshwater and Yarmouth CE Primary, Wootton Primary, Bembridge Primary, Alverstone WI and Ventnor Rugby Club will host checkpoints during the 100km ride on Sunday, 6 September. While the £15 entry fee helps cover the cost of staging the event, donations collected at each checkpoint will stay with the organisations running them.

The Randonnee has been organised by Mountbatten for the first time after the charity stepped in to safeguard the long-running event. Participants can start and finish at their nearest checkpoint while tackling the clockwise route, which includes around 1,500 metres of climbing.

A new range of Mountbatten-themed cycling kit has also been launched in partnership with Stolen Goat, alongside this year's commemorative pin badge.

Funds raised through sponsorship will support Mountbatten's hospice, bereavement and community care services across the Isle of Wight.
