Princess Royal Marks Historic Start Of 200th Cowes Week

The Princess Royal has joined organisers, competitors and the local community as Cowes Week officially began its historic 200th anniversary celebrations.
Her Royal Highness visited Regatta House, where she met staff and volunteers responsible for delivering the world-renowned sailing regatta, before touring the Maritime Heritage Trail and a special exhibition celebrating the Royal Family's long association with Cowes.
More than 630 boats are taking part in this year's Bicentenary Regatta, marking 200 years since the first Cowes Week races were held in 1826.
Bruce Huber, Chairman Elect of Cowes Week Limited, said it was "a great privilege" to welcome The Princess Royal back to the event, describing her visit as a special way to begin the milestone regatta.
North Sails Cowes Week continues until Friday, August 7.
