Isle Of Wight Youth Council Shares Ideas On Issues Affecting Young People

Youth Council members have shared their views on youth clubs, community spaces and anti-social behaviour during a meeting focused on how young people can help shape decisions on the Isle of Wight.
The meeting gave young residents the chance to discuss their experiences, raise concerns and suggest ways to improve life on the Island.
Topics included youth provision, access to community spaces and opportunities for young people, alongside how local authority decisions are made and how young residents can influence them.
Youth Council members highlighted the importance of youth clubs and other places where young people can spend time, with around 20 youth clubs operating on the Island.
Network Ryde was also highlighted as an example of an organisation supporting young people.
Ideas discussed included developing outdoor gyms and community spaces, drawing on examples of projects that have proved successful elsewhere in the UK.
Members also raised concerns about anti-social behaviour, while discussing how organisations and communities could work together to make the Island a better place to live.
The Isle of Wight Youth Council provides a platform for young people to discuss issues that matter to them and engage with local decision-makers.
Members work with organisations and elected representatives to share young people's views and help shape discussions about the Island's future.
