Fire Engine Pull Raises Thousands For Isle Of Wight Brain Tumour Charity

A fire engine pull in Newport has raised more than £5,000 for the Wight Brainy Bunch, with 20 teams taking on the challenge in support of Islanders living with brain tumours.
The charity's first Fire Engine Pull, held on Newport Quay, saw teams attempt to pull an 18-tonne fire appliance over 50 metres. Isle of Wight RFC claimed victory with a winning time of 24.76 seconds, ahead of Blues & Whites and Openreach.
The day also featured live music, food stalls and family entertainment, attracting hundreds of spectators and creating what organisers described as a fantastic community atmosphere.
Kathryn Grimes, from the Wight Brainy Bunch, said the charity had been "overwhelmed by the support", thanking every team, volunteer, performer, sponsor and visitor who helped make the event a success.
The Wight Brainy Bunch provides practical, emotional and financial support to people on the Isle of Wight living with brain tumours and said the funds raised will help continue its work supporting local patients and their families.
