Emergency services have been called to a road traffic incident involving two cyclists on the main route in and out of East Cowes this morning (Friday).

The incident has occurred on Whippingham Road, just south of the junction with Folly Lane, where two cyclists are understood to have come off their bicycles and are now receiving assistance after sustaining injuries on the roadside verge.

Several vehicles have stopped at the scene, although it remains unclear at this stage whether either cyclist was involved in a collision with a vehicle or if any contact was made prior to the incident.

Motorists are being advised to expect delays in the area, with traffic beginning to build on routes both into and out of East Cowes as emergency crews respond.
