Families and professionals are being invited to explore the refreshed Cowes Family Centre when it holds a special opening event next Tuesday (20 October).

The centre, on Love Lane, will host activities, tours and opportunities to meet staff and find out more about the support available to local families.

The morning session, aimed at families, will run from 10am until midday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10.30am.

Visitors will be able to take part in activities, see the updated facilities and learn about services provided through the Island's Family Hubs and Centres.

Support is available for children and young people aged from birth to 19, and in some circumstances up to 25, offering information, guidance and help to families at different stages of a child's development.

An afternoon session for professionals and community organisations will run from 1pm to 3pm.

Those attending will be able to meet the team, learn more about the services and discuss opportunities to use rooms at the centre free of charge for activities supporting children, young people and families.

Councillor Andrew Garratt, vice-chair of the council's children’s services, education and skills committee, said the refreshed centre marked an exciting milestone for the local community.

He encouraged families, community groups and professionals to attend and find out more about the support available.

More information about Family Centre services is available through the Isle of Wight Family Information Hub.
