A campsite on the Isle of Wight could be allowed to sell alcohol every day until 10pm and host live music, films and plays.

Nationwide Lodges has submitted an amended application for a premises licence at Adgestone Campsite Touring Park.

The plans will be considered by a licensing sub-committee at County Hall on Monday, October 12.

The company is seeking permission to sell alcohol between 8am and 10pm, seven days a week.

It also wants to hold live music events from midday until 10pm, alongside recorded music from 8am to 10pm.

Films could be shown between 5pm and 10pm, while plays could take place between 8am and 10pm.

Following discussions with the council's environmental health department, Nationwide Lodges has also proposed allowing all five activities to continue until 11pm on up to six occasions each year, subject to conditions.

The application describes plays, films and live music events as occasional.

There were initially 23 objections during the consultation, although that figure later fell to 18 after further information was provided by the applicant.

Concerns included potential disturbance to nearby homes from late-night entertainment, as well as increased litter.

In response, the applicant has agreed to a 10pm cut-off for live and recorded music, apart from the six extended occasions each year.

Nationwide Lodges has also committed to using commercial waste company Biffa to manage rubbish at the site.

A council report is recommending that the licence is granted in line with the amended timings and conditions agreed with the applicant, police and environmental health.

The final decision will be made by the licensing sub-committee.
