Lindsay Lohan Arrested: More Trouble With Law

Wed, 19 September 2012 1:51PM

Lindsay Lohan has been arrested after allegedly hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene of the accident.

The Machete actress was apparently leaving a nightclub at the Dream Hotel in Lower Manhattan when the incident happened.

Police said Lohan had been driving slowly through an alley between the Dream Hotel and the Maritime Hotel in her Porsche Cayenne when she supposedly hit the man, who is in his 30s.

Celebrity website TMZ said one of the passengers in the 4x4 got out and checked the vehicle for damage, after which Lohan and her entourage went into the hotel.

It said someone called the police while the 26-year-old was inside, and when she left the building officers detained her.

The victim called 911, but it is unclear if he was calling for medical assistance or to report the incident.

He was taken to hospital after being struck in the knee, but he had not been knocked down or dragged and had no visible injuries, and was later released.

Police said alcohol was not involved, and Lohan was released after being booked for leaving the scene of an accident.

This is a misdemeanour under US law - a "lesser" criminal act - which means she did not need to pay bail.

However, the Freaky Friday star remains on informal probation until 2014 for her necklace theft last year.

Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner told her at the time: "It was never our goal to just put people in jail, we like to see change, and I think we've all seen that."

One of the terms of Lohan's probaation is that she obey the law, so the car park incident could technically see her back before the judge.
