Isle of Wight Radio is proud to present Studio B. Studio B is an initiative that is designed to enable young people from the Isle of Wight to get on the Radio and present their own 2 hour show. A Guide to Isle of Wight Radio's Studio B.

 

Q. How many young people do we need for each Studio B session?

 

A. We are ideally looking for small groups of about 1 to 5 children/young people.

 

Q. How long is the show, when will it be broadcast and do the Young people have control of the music?

 

A. The show will be two hours long and will be broadcast on a Sunday afternoon. We would love the young people to choose the music, however we do have to remember who will be listening to the show, so we may have to moderate the choice of music. To make this easier we are asking that each group gets a list of around 20 songs together, so that we can add these to the playlist.

 

 

Q. Will the show be live?

 

A. To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we will be pre-recording the show. This is also allows the groups to come in during the week which is usually easier for the adult accompanying the group. We will be in touch very shortly to tell you the available times and when would be best for you.

 

Q. What does the group talk about on air?

 

A. We want to give you as much as a free reign as possible but again; we must make sure the subject is suitable. It could be a request for a song from friends or family. It could be about a project they have been doing at school, or if they want to promote a local event E.G. school fete or bring and buy sale (no commercial material).

Each hour will consist of songs and 5/6 links lasting around 30 seconds.

 

We suggest that you plan what will be said in the links. It is a good idea to have a clear understanding of what to say, as it can be quite daunting talking to a microphone without anything to say!
