Paul Topping

He’s called Topping. He’s on in the morning. It took us ages to think of a name for the show. Paul has many years of broadcasting experience.

His first radio show was in Bournemouth in 1989 and since then he’s been seen and heard on the Island, in Portsmouth, Bournemouth and High Wycombe amongst others.

As far as we know Paul is the only presenter at Isle Of Wight Radio to have ever been bitten by a pig during a live broadcast. Right through the wellington boot apparently. He’s probably the only presenter to have dressed up as a flamingo too (Wear It Pink Day 2008). Paul’s favourite thing is his iPhone. He tells us he drinks 'champagne mostly' but we know it to be Guinness and strong tea. Not both at once though. That would be silly.

An ideal day for Paul would involve a lie-in and then a walk with the kids around Newtown or getting lost in Parkhurst Forest. This isn’t a figure of speech – he actually has got lost in the forest before. Paul loves living on the Isle Of Wight as it’s a great place 'to bring up kids'. We asked him to describe himself in five words and he got as far as 'untidy, forgetful'.... and then gave up. We’re going to add 'distracted' to this list. We did ask him for his favourite record of all time but he told us 'mmmmm, not sure.'
