Cowes Sports lifted themselves from the bottom of the Wessex Premier League on Saturday.
Kevin Winchcombe's side were the clear underdogs going into their game with a Poole Town side whose points tally is nearly four times that of the Islanders.
Mark Augustus scored his fifth goal of the season to secure a valuable point for the Yachtsmen, and bring Poole's six-game winning streak to an end.
Cowes Sports are now second-bottom of the Wessex Premier League, three points from safety with a crucial game in hand advantage over the side directly above them, New Milton Town.
Elsewhere this weekend, Brading Town recorded their third win in five games.
Strikes from Scott Jones and Josh Appell gave the Romans a two-nil victory, which sees them climb two places to seventeenth.
Two games fell victim to the weather. Newport's home game against Bournemouth Poppies and East Cowes Vics' Division One trip to Farnborough North End were called off due to waterlogged pitches.
