Human League Don't You Want MeHoliday Tourist Village Approved
Image courtesy of Island Harbour LtdPlans for a mini-tourism village on the outskirts of Newport have been given the go-ahead.
Although the owners of Island Harbour Marina Ltd have gone into liquidation, plans have been approved for the area to expand.
The development includes a shop, parking, two warehouses to build boats and repair them, a bar, a restaurant, offices and room for 118 flats and houses for holiday accommodation.
The accommodation includes 36 one bedroom, 58 two bedroom and a further 25 two and three bedroom homes.
The planning permission also allows for the removal of the Ryde Queen Paddle steamer.
There are however a number of conditions that any developer would have to adhere to should the development be built.
Forty letters of objection were submitted to Isle of Wight Council about the plans. They included concerns about the buildings being too tall, increased traffic in the area, inadequate drainage and inadequate car parking to serve the site.
