U2 Where The Streets Have No Name'Don't Let Our Church Be Sold For Stone'

An historic landmark and community facilty in Ryde could be forced to close by the Diocese of Portsmouth.
Holy Trinity Church in Ryde is being threatened with closure because it can't afford to pay it's annual £9000 pound fees to the diocese of Portsmouth.
Due to a dwindling congregation, the church has been unable to pay the full amount owed to the Diocese, but it has always been able to cover it's own utility bills.
The historic building houses a small congregation and number of local clubs including a Ryde marshall arts group which was made homeless in the Council's review of youth services.
If the Diocese chooses to close the building one of the suggestion is to pull the church apart and sell off the stone.
Don Glassey has been a church warden for 20 years says it would be a terrible shame if the church were to close.
