U2 Where The Streets Have No NameCommunity Transport Set For A Boost
FYT bus is the latest community run scheme on the IslandBus services run by the community on the Isle of Wight are set to get a boost in funding.
Last March the Government announced a £10 million pound investment across the country on community transport schemes. The Isle of Wight received £48,002.
In December last year the Government announced more funding for the schemes but didn't reveal how much.
During a visit to the Isle of Wight last week, the Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker and Government minister for transport announced the Island is to receive another £48,002.
Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio he said, "The funding was very well received and very well used by councils. The money was used to support existing schemes and develop new ones like here on the Isle of Wight. I've allocated more funding now and a cheque will be making its way to the Isle of Wight Council shortly for £48,002."
