Love Is In The Air As Care Home Celebrates Valentine's Day

Orchard House Care home was filled with flowers, cards and sweets in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

Staff and residents celebrated the day of love by having an afternoon tea for couples, enjoying delicious fairy cakes and scones made by chef Claire Daffern, and creating heart-shaped decorations to decorate the home and gifting each other home-made sweets, cakes and treats.

General Manager, Kim Fleming, said:

“We’ve all had a lovely day decorating the home and making gifts for each other and for our loved ones. Lots of our residents were able to see their loved ones either in person or via video call. We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun and we have enjoyed every moment of it!”

Gloria, a resident at Orchard House said:

“It has been a lovely day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get involved with the day’s festivities. I really liked seeing all the couples come together and enjoying a touch of romance together.

"Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities."

Orchard House also received a surprise visit from Archie (pictured below) and his mum, Hayley. Archie is on half-term this week, and wanted to give valentine's cards and sweets to ‘make sure everyone felt loved and no one was feeling left out’.

The care home added:

"We all felt loved and all the residents felt really special.

"Thank you so much Archie, we hope to see you soon."
