A singer from the Isle of Wight has made it through to the next round of the BBC's new Saturday night show, "The Voice".

21 year old Emily McGregor from Ryde performed Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae on tonight's show.

In the show the judges have their backs turned to the singers and if they swing around in their chair the performer goes through to the next stage.

The judges include Tom Jones, Will.i.am, Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue.

It was Danny, from the Script, who Emily chose to train with after three of the judges pushed their buttons.

"You have a beautiful tone to your voice," said Tom Jones  and  Will I. Am's said  "You have a lovely, lovely voice."

Emily studied at Swanmore Middle School and then at Medina High School before also studying at Platform One College in Newport.

Emily has recently graduated from Bath Spa University where she studied music.
