Isle of Wight Council and an American businessman are planning to invest £1 million in Ventnor Botanic Garden, in a plan that will be discussed by Cabinet Members on Tuesday.
The local authority will consider a £200,000 subsidy to fund essential repairs and capital improvements over the next five years at the popular attraction.
Meanwhile, John Curtis will invest £800,000 over the next five years and will be granted a 125-year-lease for his Community Interest Company (CIC) will get a 125-year lease.
Profits will be re-invested and an admission charge is likely to be introduced.
If the deal is agreed, seven employees would move from the council to Mr Curtis' CIC, on their existing pay and conditions. They'd remain part of the local government pension scheme, costing the council £24,000 a year in contributions.
