Quit Dates Work For 400 Island Smokers

Quit Dates Work For 400 Island Smokers
Mon, 23 January 2012 3:25PM

Over 40% of people on the Isle of Wight who set a quit date to give up smoking with the NHS have been succesful.

That's according to the latest results from the NHS Isle of Wight Stop Smoking Services.

There are approximately 20,500 smokers on the Isle of Wight, around 18% of the adult population. Of 995 that committed to quit between April and September last year 431 were successful.

Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, Public Health Consultant Simon Bryant says the figure is inline with the national average.
