NatWest Business Branch Closes

NatWest Business Branch Closes
Thu, 12 January 2012 11:30AM

The bank confirmed to Isle of Wight Radio last year it was scaling back its presence on the Island.

A spokesperson from the bank told Isle of Wight Radio, "Our Riverway branch is not open to the general public. It offers a limited, by appointment only service, to a small number of business customers. We have taken the difficult decision to close on 12th January 2012 as we can no longer justify the costs involved with the service."

All affected customers should have been contacted by the bank.

Last November the bank closed its High Street branch in Ventnor despite a petition from more than 1,200 people in the town.

The bank's Sandown branch also closed in the same month.

The Island's MP, Andrew Turner wrote to senior RBS officials calling for face-to-face talks but, despite originally agreeing to a meeting, NatWest bosses then cancelled the talks.
