Isle of Wight Asparagus Used In Jubilee Lunch

Isle of Wight Asparagus Used In Jubilee Lunch
By Wed, 06 June 2012 8:05AM

Isle of Wight asparagus was used in a lavish Diamond Jubilee lunch attended by the Queen.

Some 700 guests attended the lunch at Westminster Hall yesterday (Tuesday) and were greeted by a fanfare of trumpets.

The dinner was funded by the Livery companies of trades and professions ranging from the historic Mercers and Grocers to International Bankers.

The asparagus was grilled

Guests dined on marinated Uist Island salmon with Lyme Bay crab, followed by saddle of Welsh Cambrian Mountain lamb with braised shoulder of lamb, grilled Isle of Wight asparagus, Jersey Royal potatoes and an aptly named Jubilee sauce.

The "symphony of dessert" was a chocolate delice, bread and butter pudding and berry compote with Sandringham apple sauce.
