Hover Prices To Rise

Hover Prices To Rise
By Fri, 16 March 2012 12:03PM

Hovercraft ticket prices are to increase from April 2nd.

Single ticket prices will increase by between 5% and 6%. Season tickets are rising by 3%, which is equivalent to an extra £55 for a 12 month ticket.

Neil Chapman, managing director of Hovertravel, said: "Although increasing fuel costs are driving our costs upwards,  we are only increasing our ticket prices slightly and are still the cheapest ferry across the Solent."

Mr Chapman has also confirmed some services have been cut. He said, "As lunchtime traffic outside the school holidays has been light, we have reduced the operation to an hourly service in the middle of the day, allowing us to make significant savings in fuel."

Hovertravel has also launched a new ‘Cancellation Repay’ policy that means from the 2nd April passengers will lose the option of a free transfer to Wightlink's Cats if the Hovers are cancelled.

Hovertravel will instead be offering credit for travel and passengers will receive complementary vouchers to apologise for the inconvenience caused, rather than being transferred onto Wightlink. Passengers will now be required to fill out a ‘Cancellation repay form’ available from Hovertravel staff, and hand it in within 28 days of the cancelled travel. After a period of 14 days, customers will be able to collect their vouchers from the ticket office. The type of voucher customers will receive will depend on their ticket type.

From the 2nd of April, Hovertravel will operate every thirty minutes between 09.00 and 16.00.
