Floating Bridge Out For Inspection

Floating Bridge Out For Inspection
By Emily Wells Wed, 07 March 2012 3:20PM

The Cowes Floating Bridge could be out of service for over a week from Monday 19 March for an annual inspection.

Because the vessel needs to be towed to Southampton to be checked in a dry dock the Council says it's not able to confirm when it will be back in operation.

While its in dry dock for the Marine and Coastguard Agency inspection the vessel will also be checked for any repair work.

When any necessary repairs have been completed the bridge will be towed back to Cowes as soon as weather conditions allow for a smooth Solent crossing.

The Council has apologised in advance for any problems caused and anticipates that bridge will be back in service before the end of the month.
