After just one year as Headteacher of Carisbrooke College Shaheen Khan-Jones has quit to return to the city.
A statement from Innovation Trust chief executive Judith Richardson says:
"Mrs Khan-Jones will be leaving the Headship of Carisbrooke College at the end of this term. However, due to personal circumstances, she will not be in school for the remainder of this term. Mrs Khan-Jones has played a key role in overseeing the transition of Carisbrooke High School into the new College. As Headteacher Designate, she played a major role in the design of the staffing structures for the new school and the transfer of staff from the five middle schools into both the new 11-19 Carisbrooke and Medina Colleges. She took on the role of Acting Head at Carisbrooke High School when David Jeapes left to take up a headship on the mainland.
"Shaheen Khan-Jones took to her new role as Headteacher of the federated Carisbrooke College with enthusiasm. Behaviour improved and her high expectations of pupils and staff were evident.
"However, Mrs Khan-Jones, who had previously worked in Hackney under Sir Michael Wilshaw, the new Chief at Ofsted, wishes to return to the mainland to be closer to her family and to work in a city environment."
