Burglary At Newport Charity Shop
By Emily Wells Mon, 05 March 2012 4:51PM

Money and jewellery has been taken in a burglary at a charity shop on the Isle of Wight.

Police say the incident happened at the Mencap charity shop in Newport High Street overnight on Thursday 1st March.

Money and jewellery was reported stolen and missing. A till and filing cabinet inside the shop were damaged.

Staff at the shop say it appears the burglar entered through the back of the shop.

Witnesses or anyone with information about people acting suspiciously in Newport High Street on Thursday night (March 1) or during the early hours of Friday morning (March 2) are asked to phone police on 101. Mini-com users can call phone 01962 875000. Information can be given anonymously by the phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
